Our Coffee

Jumbo Bourbon

In the beginning of the 18th century, the French planted the coffee the Dutch gave
them, on the island of Bourbon (now called La Reunion) in the middle of the Indian Ocean. In the late 1800's, this plant cross the Atlantic and was planted in Brazil before eventually spreading in Latin America. It was introduced around 1880 in Nicaragua by German families.

The SHB Bourbon is a product of PacaMara and MaraCaturra trees, which are hybrid between Maragogype (natural mutation of old Typica tress) and Pacas or Caturra from the island of Bourbon (La Reunion).

From a 3m high tree, a farfetched coffee with round spice raisin notes and solid body.  The SHB Bourbon nestles in the mountainous region of Nicaragua, mainly in Jinotega and Matagalpa in a humid tropical forest climate with lush vegetation.
